OBP (Ocean-Bound Plastic) is a coastal-sourced subset of PCR — same recycled resin, stronger ocean-protection story.OBP packaging is made from plastic waste collected from coastal areas at high risk of entering the ocean. The recovered plastic is sorted, cleaned, and reprocessed into recycled resin for new cosmetic packaging.

No. Because OBP is intercepted on land (never seawater-exposed), it avoids the salt/degradation damage of ocean plastic. Our OBP resin goes through multi-stage de-salting, hot-washing, and filtration, then compatibility and migration testing for each formulation . Durability, barrier properties, and performance match virgin-grade standards.
At 30–50% OBP the difference is minimal — most consumers won’t notice. At 70–100% OBP a subtle natural grey/blue tint may appear, which many ocean-conscious brands embrace as an authentic “rescued from the coast” aesthetic. If you need a pristine look, we can mask the tint with custom masterbatch coloring to match any Pantone brand color.
Yes. OBP packaging can typically enter the recycling stream after use, depending on the specific polymer and local recycling guidelines. We also offer mono-material OBP designs to support easier recycling and improve circularity.
OBP (Ocean-Bound Plastic) is recovered from coastal areas at risk of entering the ocean. PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) comes from post-consumer plastic waste. Bio-based plastic is made from renewable plant sources, such as sugarcane, rather than recycled waste. All three can reduce reliance on virgin plastic, but PCR and OBP reuse existing plastic waste, while bio-based plastic uses renewable feedstocks. Choose OBP when ocean impact is central to your brand story, PCR when recycled content and cost efficiency are priorities, and bio-based packaging when renewable feedstocks matter most.
